Why not round your season off in style with La Fuga at L'Eroica. L'Eroica sportive is held every October starting and finishing in the beautiful Tuscan town of Gaiole in Chianti. This event rejoices in vintage bikes and clothing, you will not find any Pinarello Dogma's here!
Held on the strade bianche, or gravel roads, of the region, this event recreates the golden age of cycling with many participants using vintage bikes, wearing authentic race jerseys and fuelling themselves round the 200km course with bread and brandy. It's a classic event that every keen cyclist needs to do at least once. There is a distance for everyone in this event with four different course lengths to choose from: 38km, 75km, 135km or 209km.
During the event special feed stations allow you to refuel with tradition Tuscan meals as riders would have done in years gone by. Glasses of the local Chianti wine are even available at certain stops to soak up the spectacular views as your route card is stamped. For more information on routes, climbs and support services please visit www.eroicafan.it
Bike Equipment The event has certain restrictions on what bikes and equipment can be used in order to enter the event. Bikes must date pre-1987 and be of a classic design with downtube shifters and brake cable that exit the top of the brake levers.

A nice gentle ride with the opportunity to take in the final sections of gravel road for the following days event, warm up the legs and get used to the handling of your classic bike. There will be chance to practice your gravel riding techniques and pick up some riding tips from your guide on the different sections of ‘strade bianche’ before a lunch stop.
We will then head into Gaiole in order to pick up your event packs and get your bikes checked over. There will be plenty of time to look around the stands which form the event village and purchase some extra clothing should you so wish. If there’s time you’ll have chance to soak up the Tuscan sun by the hotel pool and then fuel up for the following day’s event.
The guides will host a short briefing giving you all the information you will need for the following day. An early night will be in order for the early depart.

The Big Day! The hotel will serve a breakfast suitable for the day’s activities with generous helpings of pasta. We will then transfer you to the event start and arrive with enough time to grab an espresso or two.
Your guide will be on hand to pass on some last minute words of wisdom and escort you to the starting pen. After a tough and hopefully enjoyable ride, we’ll meet you at the finish with some cold drinks and congratulations. Then we’ll hit the pasta party for some serious re-fuelling and to relive the best moments of the event with your fellow competitors. A refreshing shower and perhaps a power nap await you back at the hotel. The rest of the evening will be spent toasting our success and enjoying some great food and drink in the hotel restaurant.
