Friday – ARRIVAL DAY
Your bike will be unpacked and ready to go for today’s warm-up ride.
Essentially our ride today escape sets the tone for the weekend, today gives you a good introduction to The Cote D’Azur. We clear through the streets of Cannes out of our hotel and are greeted by a short punchy climb up to La Rouquette-sur-Siagne before heading into Mouans Sartoux. Our main challenge takes us up to Grasse famed for being the world’s capital of perfume and onto the village of Cabris where we may stop for a coffee and admire the view down towards the Med. Our route takes us up into the hills and at this point we turn back and head down through a variety of small towns and villages for approximately 16 km into Pegomas before returning to the coastline and our hotel.
Ride Stats: 50km with 1110m Elevation
Saturday – RIDE DAY (Cannes – Vence)
Today’s ride profile looks like a series of sharp teeth, one after another as we head up through Vallbone, Chateuneuf and up to Gourdon where we’ll stop and take in the breath taking view down the gorge and out over Nice. The route takes us up past Gourdon and then we hit the descent off the Col De Vence a fast, smooth, sweeping descent. Once your heartbeat has slowed down and the adrenaline calmed we head for the coast and Antibes before the last push along the seafront to our hotel.
Ride Stats: 128km with 2860m Elevation
Sunday – DEPARTURE DAY (Cannes Classic)
A La Fuga favourite for so many reasons, sharp climbs, quite roads, beautiful views and descents that feel like they were designed with cyclists in mind and a section in the Massif-de-l’Esterel that’s closed to traffic. The reward through this section is a view that you’ll never forget.
We start out of our hotel early and almost immediately start climbing, through villages and back roads with sections of 16%, a bit of a shock treatment to get you going. We continue to climb up to Tanneron where we can enjoy a coffee or two. The roads in this area are beautifully quiet, barely any traffic and the descent from Tanneron is an opportunity to ride hard. The final section on this ride is the coast line sprint, 25km with the sun on our backs all the way back to our hotel.
Ride Stats: 50km-100km with 900m-1800m Elevation
We pack your bike straight after the ride and will run a transfer arriving at Nice Airport in time for an evening flight.
On your Cote d’Azur Escape you will be staying at the fabulous Chateau de la Tour in Cannes.
The Chateau offers a different way to see Cannes, providing discretion and elegance, peaceful gardens, sun terrace and sea views.
With just 34 rooms, in a building dating from 1870, Chateau de la Tour is unique amongst the luxury hotels in Cannes, set in its own private grounds, with views over the Bay of Cannes.
After a day’s riding you can lounge by the pool, take lunch at the poolside bar, or dine indoors in their gourmet restaurant. The hustle and bustle of La Croisette is just seven minutes away, to be dipped into when you wish, but left behind when you don’t.
Whilst their Gemology Spa provides beauty treatments and therapies to soothe and relax, to make your trip to Cannes complete.
