By teaming up with the Orica GreenEDGE team, La Fuga are providing an unrivalled insight into the world of professional cycling. This weekend focuses upon the first of the five monuments of cycling, Milan San Remo also known as the ‘la primavera’ or ‘the spring’ giving you an experience of a lifetime.
With access to the team and their personnel we will take you behind the scenes to see how the team prepares for such an important race with talks from the Sports Director on the tactics ahead of the race, the mechanics on how each riders like Matthew Goss has his bike set up, and the Soigneurs on what food they will prepare for the riders to keep them eating ahead of the 298 kilometre race. Normally a race for the sprinters, the sight of the peleton racing at full speed down the descent of the Poggio, hurtling towards the ‘Via Roma’ is one not to miss. We will give you the opportunity to talk to the riders, ask them their thoughts and ambitions ahead of the race while also staying with them at the team’s hotel.
Orica GreenEDGE’s Simon Gerrans outwitted an in form Fabian Cancellara in 2012 with a perfectly timed attack in the final few hundred metres as the chasing group were breathing down their necks. Gerrans showed nerves of steel to stay in Cancellara’s wheel until the very last moment to spring past for the win. 2014 will be the 105th edition and will no doubt provide as much excitement as previous editions, hopefully with victory for an Orica GreenEDGE rider.
