What is a randonnée and who is it aimed at?

In true La Fuga fashion, we have created our randonnée routes (point to point rides) across some of the best mountain ranges in Europe. We have four very special routes across the Alps and Pyrenees in France and across the Dolomites and the lesser known, but no less spectacular, Appennini in Italy. We have also created two bite-sized, three-day randonnées for riders who find it hard to escape life's commitments for a full week; one in the Catalonia region of Spain, famed training grounds of many professionals. The second three-day randonnée is in Tuscany, which has its fair share of professional riders and gorgeous riding as well.

Alpine

Our Original week-long Randonnées are tests of your adventurous spirit, determination and physical endurance.  Our carefully designed routes will take you on an exploration like no other, traversing some of the most beautiful and historic roads and mountain passes in Europe.  They are both demanding and rewarding, giving you the opportunity to experience the highs and lows commonly seen in the professional stage race.  On a good day you'll feel like Pantani, and as if you're floating over the tarmac but, on a bad day, it'll be a struggle to get out of bed and tackle the road ahead. However, it's on these bad days where the La Fuga Ethos comes into it's own: On a strong day be generous and offer the help that you'll so gratefully accept on a low day.  The Randonnée is not a race, there will be no one individual winner, but there is a unique sense of having achieved something colossal when you work together with your fellow Randonneurs to complete these epic events.

Pyrenees

While the challenge presented by a Randonnée is not be underestimated, these events should be within the capabilities of seasoned riders who aren't afraid of 100-mile sportives or fondos. Every one of our Randonnée routes has been selected to offer just the right level of challenge and achievement, while ensuring a balance with fun descents, coffee stops and even a bit of time to relax at some of our favourite hotels.

Appennini

These rides can be tough and we encourage you to ride the whole route as the sense of satisfaction is heightened upon completion.  However, our support vehicles are always equipt with spare food, drink, clothing, and able to offer mechanical assistance and bail-out in extreme circumstances.  Our 'On the Bike' guides are also very experienced riders, ensuring you have lots of great tips and clear briefings on the days riding ahead. Read more about our fantastic supoort package experienced on each of our trips.

Pyrenees

Season after season, we've found that the shared journey and the bond forged between riders who meet for the first time on one of our randonnées is simply incredible. During the long days in the mountains, riders they didn't previously know become great friends and some of our best moments are seeing these friends return year after year.

Alpine

Three seasons ago, La Fuga delivered our first Randonnée tours in conjuction with Rapha and are offering these in 2013 under the La Fuga umbrella.  We continue to offer our exemplary service, providing well researched and unknown routes, with great guides and support package that allows you to concentrate on the ride ahead.
