    Dragon Ride

    European Tour Manager

    Location – Mortlake, London and various locations around europe

    Contract – Fixed term / trip specific

    Reports to – Operations Manager

    Role Description
    Unflappable under pressure, natural leaders and possessing the problem solving skills of an astronaut, our Tour Managers make the magic happen out on the road. This is a multi tasking role with never a dull moment. Whether it’s re-planning the entire next days ride route at the last minute due to an over-night dump of snow, finding quality masseurs for a last minute request or just keeping riders smiling even though it’s a rainy stage, this is a job for a person who can think on their feet, be proactive and take responsibility for things before others have even realised the issue and taking pride in what they do.

    Role Responsibilities
    The post-holder will be responsible for the successful planning, staffing and execution of La Fuga Travel European Tours. In addition, the Tour Manager will play a key role in the costing, selling and business administration of tours. The position will require split time between our London and European offices, as well as travel to destinations throughout Europe.

    Main Duties
    The main duties of the post holder shall comprise, but not be limited to, the following:

    • Manage all tasks associated with the successful day-to-day running of tours,
    • Responsible for tour staff levels, budget, resources, administration, and time-tabling
    • Communicate appropriate tour information with La Fuga management and staff
    • Research, costing and preparation of new and existing tours
    • Liaise with new and existing customers regarding potential tour sales
    • Create custom tour proposals and tour descriptions
    • Arrange and manage bookings with appropriate hotels and restaurants
    • Identify and resolve problems during tours, and/or escalate more serious issues if they occur
    • Ensure customer and staff enquiries are dealt with in a timely and successful manner
    • Maintain appropriate inventory of tour supplies (e.g. nutrition, spares) throughout season
    • Transfer staff and equipment to/from tour locations and collect guests from airports, hotels, etc
    • Contribute to and manage La Fuga social networking, such as Twitter, Facebook and blog updates
    • Demonstrate awareness of legal and regulatory considerations relating to tours
    • Other duties to support the business as required

    Necessary Skills
    • Strong inter-personal, communication and presentation skills, with attention to detail
    • Numeracy and literacy skills, plus additional language skills: French and/or Italian
    • Proven ability to manage a team, plus initiative to operate with minimal supervision
    • Passion for cycling, cycle sport, bicycle design, maintenance and travel
    • Dedication to delivering a quality service to our customers
    • Hold and maintain a full driving licence, with competence driving large vehicles and towing trailers
    • Proficient with basic software including MS Office
    • Clear travel visa for the UK and Europe
    • Heaps of enthusiasm and energy!

    European Tour Guide

    Role Description
    Being a La Fuga tour guide is far more than just riding your bike with a bunch of guests. Being a tour guide is hard. From the start to the finish of each tour, you are ‘on call’, there is no 9-5 schedule. Each day brings new challenges to solve as well as mountains to ride up. Guides will be hard at work every day well before guests tumble out of bed each morning and long after dinner to prepare for the next day. The day is done when the next day is ready. Our attention to our customers is our first and most important service. If you can lead a group through the mountains, think on your feet, adapt a plan on the fly, enthuse over dinner, want to go the extra mile and keep on smiling, this could be the role for you.

    Role Responsibilities
    Tour guides are responsible for leading and assisting with the successful day – day running of our trips in Europe and ensuring our guests have a trip experience to remember.

    Main Duties
    The main duties of the post holder shall comprise, but not be limited to, the following:

    • Guiding groups on bike through confident navigation
    • Adapting to the abilities and expectations of each different group of guests
    • Entertaining guests and ensuring their safety out on the road
    • Preparation of food, maps and other tour materials
    • Liaising with hotel management, restaurants and other service partners
    • Delivering guests to and from the airport
    • Transporting and maintaining guest bikes safely
    • Ensuring the smooth running of each tour day through preparation and flexibility

    Necessary Skills
    • Strong foreign language skills (French / Italian)
    • Strong inter-personal, communication and presentation skills with attention to detail
    • Self starter with energy, able to show initiative and work with minimal supervision
    • A passion for cycle sport and travel
    • A team player, with a willingness to learn on the job
    • Able to work under pressure, to strict deadlines
    • Ability to find solutions and be adaptable to last minute changes
    • Dedication to delivering the highest quality service to our customers
    • Willingness to achieve above and beyond expectations
    • Good level of fitness and strong bike riding skills
    • Full, clean, driving license
    • Familiarity with road riding in Europe, and other popular cycling areas
    • Bicycle maintenance and repair to a high standard
    • Experience in leading and managing groups of up to 10 persons
    • Prior experience in luxury hospitality would be useful
    • Any qualifications in First Aid would be useful
    • As would any bicycle leadership qualifications
    • Clear travel visa for the UK and Europe
    • Heaps of enthusiasm and energy!

    Tour Staff

    Location – Various locations around Europe

    Contract – Fixed term / trip specific

    Reports to – European Tour Manager

    Application deadline – On-going

    Role Description
    Inspire our guests, guide them through their riding challenges and be part of the La Fuga team. Each year we take our guests to ride the greatest Sportives and Granfondos in the world and we provide unrivalled support for them throughout. We take the stress out of travelling so our guests just have to concentrate on riding.

    From the start to the finish of each tour, you are ‘on call’, there is no 9-5 schedule. Each day brings new challenges to solve, from making sure each guest has their race number, arrives at their allotted start pen on time to being there, half way through a race, at a feed station to give a guest their gilet for the descent off the mountain.

    Staff will be hard at work every day well before guests tumble out of bed each morning and long after dinner to prepare for the next day. The day is done when the next day is ready. Our attention to our customers is our first and most important service. If you have bags of energy, can think on your feet, adapt a plan on the fly, enthuse over dinner, want to go the extra mile and keep on smiling, this could be the role for you.

    Bookkeeper

    Location – Mortlake, London

    Contract – Part time, 1-2 days a week, with potential to increase in line with business growth

    Reports to – Operations Manager

    Role Description
    Do you have at least 2 years experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role? Do you have a background in not only ensuring all accounting records are maintained accurately, but also in reporting on and interpreting the same data? We are looking for a seasoned bookkeeper who is able to produce accounts up to trail balance and must have experience of carrying this out a similar role in a previous job. The role is part-time at the moment but will develop as the business grows so would be ideal for someone wanting to take on more responsibility in the future or someone returning to work.

    You must be articulate, extremely organised, adept at multi-tasking, flexible in attitude with a meticulous attention to detail. Whilst it is not a requirement to be fully qualified for this role, it is essential that you have experience in all the key areas outlined below for your application to be considered.
